We are pleased to share that assistant professor Anneke Claypool has received a four-year Start Package Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation to advance work within health policy modelling and public health.
Anneke’s research will focus on developing modelling methods that assess the long-term and broader effects of interventions across multiple metabolic diseases simultaneously, helping to assess often underestimated outcomes related to the prevention of several diseases at once.
Anneke’s research aims to strengthen our understanding of how everyday factors such as physical activity, smoking habits, urban infrastructure such as cycling accessibility influence population health outcomes over time. While medical interventions can be evaluated in clinical trials, it remains significantly more difficult to estimate the effects of societal and behavioral interventions.
Through mathematical modelling, the project seeks to provide improved estimates of how non-healthcare interventions can contribute to disease prevention and long-term health improvements across populations.
This research represents an important step towards more holistic approaches to healthcare policy and prevention strategies.
