Professor Phoebe Koundouri, a Cambridge University PhD, is a leading scholar in her field. She has a strong academic, policy and societal impact, with more than 500 peer reviewed publications and 15 published books, as well as editorial work on several leading scientific journals.
Currently she is president for the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), while chairing the Global Climate Hub and the European Section of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, a global network which functions under the auspices of the General Secretary of the United Nations (UN). She is an elected member of Academia Europea, the World Academy of Arts and Science, and the InterAcademy Partnership. She is also member of the selection committee of the Nobel Prize in Economics.
Koundouri is an advisor for different international organizations, including the UN, European Commission, the World Bank, the World Water Council, NATO and WHO, which add to her international recognition and influence. Koundouri is included in the official Stanford University list of the top 2% world scientists and is listed in the 1% of most cited women economists worldwide. Among the many awards and grants Koundouri has attracted, over the last 25 years, she won an ERC Synergy Grant in 2020.
Phoebe Koundouri will be part time affiliated with DTU together with her affiliation with Athens University of Economics and Business. DTU Management appeals to Koundouri because of its focus on interdisciplinary research. “Synergizing with the strong interdisciplinary research capacity at DTU Management will empower my research, which focuses on developing theoretical and applied scientific frameworks that enable the design of holistic and systemic, spatial and dynamic, human-centric pathways for the implementation of UN Agenda 2030 and the 17th Sustainable Development Goals.”, as Koundouri says
