DTU management invites applications for a 3-year position as PhD student within a research project on how actors in the Scandinavian pension market strive to achieve divestment in fossil fuels. The PhD student will become a member of an excellent Scandinavian research group as well as a local research environment in Science and Technology Studies in the Division for Responsible Innovation and Design at DTU.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The PhD position is in Science and Technology Studies (STS) with a focus on how actors in the pension market and civil society are seeking to transform the value regimes that govern the rationale and practices of investments in order to increase fossil divestment. You will conduct a qualitative case study of a Danish case and be involved in collaborative and comparative STS research within the project (entitled Fossil Free Futures).

The PhD position involves independent research under supervision from experienced colleagues, obligations as teaching assistant, participation in PhD courses and dissemination activities. You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. You should have a background in STS, sociology, anthropology or similar. You should have excellent methodological competences and experience with qualitative methods. Previous research experience and knowledge of the pension market and sociology of markets/valuation studies is an advantage.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.

The position is a full time position and the starting date is 1 September or as soon as possible hereafter.
