EURO is the ‘Association of European Operational Research Societies’. The objective of EURO is to promote Operational Research, and one of the initiatives is the EURO-k conferences. Operations Research is the scientific field of automated planning and optimization and spans from classic mathematical modelling to artificial intelligence methods. The conferences take place yearly and are hosted by different EURO member societies. The coming conference in 2024 will be held at DTU Management in collaboration with the Danish Operations Research Society (DORS). 2-3,000 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the 33rd EURO conference at DTU.
DORS is a society that aims to promote the application and development of operations research methods in Denmark. They also facilitate contact between associations and organizations nationally as well as internationally. Assoc. Prof. Dario Pacino from DTU Management is the president of DORS and chair of the organizing committee of EURO’24.
Berit Dangaard Brouer will be the local plenary speaker at the conference. Berit works as Principal Decision Scientist at Maersk and has a long career in designing and implementing solutions to large-scale optimization problems for the maritime industry. Berit did her PhD in Operations Research at DTU with Professor David Pisinger. Within the maritime Operations Research community, Berit is especially known for the LinerLib benchmark data set created together with the ENERPLAN research group and Maersk. The LinerLib benchmark set has proven to be widely applicable to the wider research field of maritime operations research even if targeted at solving the network design problem for ocean liner shipping.
At the EURO conference next year, Berit will speak about decision science at Maersk using a data driven approach to automation and standardization through technology.
