Energy markets & finance
Empowering markets for a robust and carbon-free energy future.
Energy and financial markets are central to enabling the transition towards a sustainable economy. We focus on the design, behaviour and operation of energy markets interacting with financial markets and lay effective policies and regulations for the efficient green transition.
We research the enablers of the green transition, focusing on energy market design and policies, network regulation, and financing green investments to ensure viable and carbon-free systems. Our work covers the impact of climate policies and regulations like carbon pricing, subsidies, and green financing, on investments, security of supply, and the economy in general. In addition, we investigate demand-side flexibility and develop forecasting methods for renewable energy production and prices.
Our research supports policymakers and businesses in making informed decisions in the realm of energy-economy-finance relationships. The section combines competencies applied economics, operations research, financial analysis, and data science for the quantitative modelling of energy and fuel markets.
