David Pisinger receives ERC Advanced Grant

David Pisinger receives 2.5 million euro for the research project ”DECIDE - Machine learning for decision making under uncertainty”.

Many important decisions are made under uncertainty since the development of various parameters is not known. The ongoing green transition requires large and urgent societal investments in new energy modes, infrastructure and technology. The decisions span over a very long time horizon, and there is large uncertainty towards energy prices, the demand for energy, and production from renewable sources. The research project aims to develop a new framework for investment decision-making under uncertainty based on a combination of machine learning and operations research. The new framework will enable a more transparent and inclusive decision process while ensuring well-founded and robust investment decisions.
