It is with great pleasure that we welcome Professor Florentina Paraschiv to DTU Management.
Florentina is an excellent and renowned researcher with a strong background in energy economics, sustainable finance, and banking. Her research explores how financial systems can better support the transition to a sustainable economy. Her work focuses on integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores into investment and lending decisions, helping investors and creditors consider climate and social factors more effectively.
As sustainability regulations and climate goals evolve, traditional financial models are being reexamined. Florentinas research develops new methods to guide capital toward sustainable investments and stresses the need for energy and climate policies to be backed by clear, effective financing strategies.
Currently, Florentina is focusing on a project on “Green Banking,” which aims to help banks and borrowing companies better understand loan-pricing strategies during catastrophic events in Europe. This has become an increasingly pressing issue due to climate change events, such as forest fires, flooding, and droughts. If these catastrophes exceed a certain threshold, the role of bank lending becomes crucial. The project is researching ways to observe and optimize the pricing strategy under such circumstances, while also examining the specificity of monetary policy in Europe by applying machine learning techniques.
Florentina has previously worked as a Full Professor of Financial Economics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway and held the Chair of Finance at Zeppelin University in Germany.
At DTU Management, Florentina looks forward to working at a renowned technical university, where she can collaborate with colleagues who work in different areas of research and contribute to a dynamic engineering environment. She finds interdisciplinary work particularly important in coping with sustainability challenges.
Florentina also brings extensive teaching experience and has received multiple accolades for her work. She looks forward to teaching Danish students for the first time this November:
“I have not yet taught at DTU. I very much look forward to teaching in yet another culture and bringing some corporate finance and sustainable finance dimensions to existing courses at DTU.”
Head of Division Signe Krarup is looking very much forward to the collaboration:
"I am pleased to welcome Florentina Paraschiv to DTU. Her research highlights how the financial sector—from banks to investors—can actively support the green transition. By exploring how businesses and governments manage climate risks and ESG requirements, she provides valuable insights that help society invest more responsibly and sustainably."
We are excited to have Florentina help strengthen DTU Management’s research in sustainable finance and contribute to a teaching environment that builds a connection between sustainability economics and engineering.
