This week, two new professors will join DTU Management’s Sustainability Division. Both will strengthen the research on climate and energy economics at the department.

DTU Management is strengthening the economic focus of the Sustainability Division with two new professors in economics. They will contribute to the department's research in climate change and the green and sustainable transitions of societies.

The new professors are Professor Dogan Keles from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), who will be heading thee the Energy System Analysis Section and Professor Ugur Soytas from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, who will be heading the  Climate Economics and Risk Management Section.

“I am incredibly pleased that Professor Dogan Keles and Professor Ugur Soytas are now becoming part of our already strong Sustainability Division. They are both going to boost our research further within energy and climate economics. Their profiles are highly attractive as they can build bridges between our economic, technical, ethics and sustainability perspectives”, says Head of Department Mette Wier.

Head of the Sustainability Division Signe Krarup agrees. She elaborates on the new professors:

”Dogan’s research focuses on the decarbonization of the energy sector and brings in strong expertise within energy economics, energy systems modelling and operational analysis. With his huge expertise, we are bringing these areas even more together across the department to strengthen our research in the green transition of energy systems in the coming years.”

“Ugur will strengthen the socio-economic focus within our climate research and look at the impacts of climate change more broadly including the social and financial issues. Ugur is editing the well-esteemed journal Energy Economics and has special interests in developing quantitative measures for fairness, distribution and socially responsible climate investments. This opens multiple collaboration possibilities both within and outside DTU ”.
