Climate economics and policy

Climate change presents unprecedented challenges that make far-reaching impacts on societies on a global scale. Our research addresses these multifaceted challenges, including sustainable behaviour, climate risks, mitigation, adaptation and climate finance. We systematically evaluate the risks, costs, benefits, and distributional consequences associated with climate change and associated policies in an effort to balance environmental goals, economic considerations, and societal preparedness. We also help expand the knowledge base in several key areas, including risks, hazards and economic implications of extreme climate events; connections between climate change and sustainable development goals; individual risk preferences in the face of climate uncertainties and green finance initiatives and their impact on emissions reduction.

We employ various qualitative and quantitative methodologies and models at both the micro- and macro-levels. In addition to our academic pursuits, we proactively engage with policymakers, businesses and households to facilitate choices that foster sustainable societal well-being. Our work is rooted firmly in theoretical frameworks and extends its reach to encompass pragmatic solutions to guide decision-making towards a more sustainable future.
